UPDATE

The EU has increased the maximum residue levels (MRLs) for metaldehyde in flowering brassicas and leafy brassicas.

IMPACTED PRODUCTS

Broccoli, cauliflowers, chinese cabbages/pe-tsai, kales

WHAT IS CHANGING?

The EU has increased the MRLs for metaldehyde as summarised in Table 1.

WHY?

Following an application to modify the MRLs for metaldehyde on broccoli, cau- liflowers, chinese cabbages/pe-tsai and kales, EFSA (2023) found no consumer health risk for these MRLs, which have therefore been accepted by the Europe- an Commission.

TIMELINE

The new MRLs apply from 27 September 2023.
