FPEAK partners with GIZ

FPEAK has partnered with the German development agency, Deutsche Ge- sellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). This partnership is based on the Support to East African Community Market Driven and People’s Centered Integration (SEAMPEC) Project.

Under the partnership FPEAK will implement a six-month project that seeks to advocate for creation of “Green Channels” at weighbridges in Kenya and at border points with neighbouring countries (Uganda and Tanzania) to allow fruits, vegetables and flowers to be given priority while on transit. This will reduce the time and cost implication of logistics for fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Through this project, FPEAK will develop a documentary highlighting the chal- lenges faced by traders and transporters of horticultural products at weigh- bridges and border points across the EAC and a policy paper for presentation to the relevant government authorities.

FPEAK continues to engage with government and other like-minded stakehold- ers to create a favourable business environment for members within the horti- culture industry.
