On Tuesday, 26th March 2025, FPEAK held its first Industry Stakeholders Meeting of the year at Crowne Plaza Hotel, JKIA. The event brought together members, affiliate partners, and key stakeholders for an engaging and insightful session focused on innovation, regulatory updates, and strategic collaboration in support of Kenya’s horticulture sector.
The meeting provided an important platform for networking and information exchange, with a special emphasis on the role of affiliate members in driving innovation and offering value-added services to exporters and growers.
💡 Showcasing Affiliate Solutions: Technology Meets Agriculture
One of the highlights of the meeting was the showcase of practical, forward-thinking solutions presented by FPEAK affiliate members:
🌱 EBARA PUMPS EAST AFRICA demonstrated their range of high-performance water pumps and irrigation systems, tailored to support both commercial horticulture exporters and smallholder farmers. Their technology aims to boost water efficiency, crop productivity, and climate resilience across Kenya’s growing regions.
🚚 CargoLedger shared a compelling presentation on digital trade facilitation tools, including smart logistics solutions designed to enhance transparency, traceability, and cost-effectiveness in the export supply chain. Their tools are especially timely as exporters seek to comply with increasingly complex international trade requirements.
These solutions reflect the vital role that private sector partners play in strengthening Kenya’s agricultural value chain—from farm to market.
📄 Key Regulatory Update: EU Regulation 2004/2024
The session also featured a detailed briefing on the upcoming EU Regulation 2004/2024 on False Coddling Moth (FCM), a critical phytosanitary concern for exporters. The new regulation, which is set to take effect on 26th April 2025, will introduce stricter control measures for exports to the European Union. FPEAK emphasized the need for early preparedness among members and stakeholders to ensure compliance and avoid disruptions to trade.
This update comes at a crucial time, as exporters continue to navigate evolving international standards, and underscores FPEAK’s commitment to keeping its members informed and prepared.
🙏 Appreciations and the Road Ahead
FPEAK extends its sincere gratitude to EBARA Pumps East Africa and CargoLedger for their engaging and informative presentations. Their contributions highlight the importance of embracing technology and partnerships to support a resilient and competitive horticulture industry.
We also thank all the attendees—members, affiliates, and industry partners—for your active participation and shared commitment to advancing Kenya’s horticulture sector. Your presence and input continue to make these engagements impactful and solutions-oriented.
As we move forward, FPEAK remains committed to fostering meaningful industry dialogue, promoting innovation, and equipping members with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in a dynamic global marketplace.
