The Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK) has released a comprehensive Mango Export Guide aimed at supporting growers, exporters, and other stakeholders in navigating the export process and accessing international markets.
The guide provides practical information on the key requirements for exporting mangoes, covering production, harvesting, post-harvest handling, quality standards, packaging, logistics, and compliance with market regulations. It is designed to enhance export readiness and support stakeholders in meeting the requirements of global buyers.
As demand for Kenyan mangoes continues to grow in international markets, adherence to quality, food safety, and traceability requirements remains critical for maintaining market access and competitiveness. The guide serves as a valuable resource for industry players seeking to strengthen their understanding of export procedures and improve compliance with market expectations.
The development of the guide was informed by a desk review of Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) protocols, phytosanitary regulations, and UK/EU import requirements. FPEAK extends its appreciation to CABI and Kenya’s mango industry stakeholders for their valuable contribution to this process.
FPEAK also acknowledges the support of TradeMark Africa (TMA) through the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)-funded Regional Economic Development for Investment and Trade (REDIT) Programme. The REDIT Programme seeks to strengthen food safety and pest diagnostic laboratory capacity among competent authorities, contributing to improved compliance and enhanced market access for horticultural exports.
Through this initiative, FPEAK continues to support the growth and sustainability of Kenya’s horticulture sector by providing industry stakeholders with access to relevant technical information and market-oriented resources.
