Edwin Gakonyo is the General Manager- Africa at Royal FloraHolland, a cooperative that has brought together growers and buyers for more than a century, where fresh flowers are auctioned to various destinations around the world. RFH brings together supply and demand for an optimal price at minimal costs through a digital B2B platform.
Edwin joined Royal FloraHolland on February 5th 2013. During his decade at the company he has played a pivotal role in servicing growers, ensuring the implementation of the RFH strategy in the international environment and several key projects including Sea Freight, and management of key stakeholders both in the Public and Private sector. Edwin oversees a portfolio of over 120 flower farms in Kenya and over 35 in Ethiopia, with Kenya exporting over 1 billion stems to the Netherlands annually. He is responsible for members across Africa including in Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Edwin began his career in Finance in 2007 at London Distillers, moving on to AAR Insurance, before joining Royal FloraHolland. He has a solid background in accounting & reporting, corporate finance, tax, coupled with skills in cross functional management in human resources and administration.
Edwin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). He is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
