Bio
Leah Sonkoi Meja is the current vice chair of FPEAK Board. Leah is the Managing Director for Spisa Kenya Limited, one of the leading fresh herbs exporters in Kenya. Previously, Leah worked as the Corporate Director of food safety at Shenandoah Growers in the US. Spisa Kenya contracts a network of small and medium scale growers around the country. Spisa Kenya supports its suppliers with training, and prepare the growers to comply to global standards in food safety and quality assurance. Leah holds a Master’s Degree in business administration from Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia, and a Bachelor’s Degree in international business from the same university.
Leah has over 15 years’ experience in the fresh produce industry, and is passionate about food safety, lean manufacturing and value addition. Her international experience and understanding of global markets has helped her and her team to embrace a culture of continuous improvement in order to keep up with local and global market trends.

FPEAK has really helped us achieve our goals. As a farmer, the association members help us market our produce at international export markets and also constantly help us build capacity through various training sessions on food safety, good agricultural practices among others.
